About Us
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are guided by a volunteer Board of Directors that provides strategic oversight and ensures accountability to our mission. Day-to-day operations are led by a professional team under the direction of an Executive Director, who ensures the success of our Mission through solid management of programs, staff, and resources.
Star of Hope's Board of Directors provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction to ensure our organization fulfills its mission of empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful, independent, and fulfilling lives.
As dedicated community volunteers, Board members help guide Star of Hope's long-term vision, safeguard its financial health, establish organizational policies, and ensure accountability to the individuals we support, our employees, and the communities we serve.
While the Executive Director and leadership team manage daily operations, the Board focuses on the organization's overall success, sustainability, and continued commitment to providing high-quality, person-centered services throughout Coos and Curry counties.

Our Direct Support Professionals:
The Heart of Star of Hope.
Every day, Star of Hope's Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) make an extraordinary difference in the lives of the people we support. They are mentors, advocates, teachers, problem-solvers, cheerleaders, and trusted companions who help turn everyday moments into opportunities for growth, independence, and achievement.
Whether supporting someone in their home, helping them develop new skills, exploring the community, pursuing employment, building friendships, or celebrating personal milestones, our DSPs are there to encourage, empower, and inspire. Their work is as diverse and unique as the individuals they support, and no two days are ever quite the same!
But being a DSP is about far more than providing assistance. It's about recognizing potential, respecting individual choices, promoting dignity, and helping people create lives filled with purpose, connection, and possibility. It's about knowing when to lend a helping hand, when to offer encouragement, and when to step back so someone can experience the pride of doing something independently.
Our Direct Support Professionals bring patience, creativity, compassion, energy, and dedication to everything they do. They navigate challenges, celebrate victories both big and small, and help create meaningful experiences that enrich lives every single day.
At Star of Hope, our DSPs don't just provide services. They open doors, build confidence, create opportunities, and help make independence possible. They are the heart of our mission and the people who bring it to life, one person, one opportunity, and one extraordinary day at a time.
