Individuals have used their skills to gain full-time employment in the community and work toward their independence each day.
We have a Supported Employment program that is conducted at The Oregon Connection/House of Myrtlewood.
The Oregon Connection/House of Myrtlewood (OC) is a retail/wholesale manufacturing store. www.oregonconnection.com
It was purchased in 2006 by Star of Hope (SOH) to provide a source of income and a location to train individuals with barriers to employment in retail, woodworking, shop, and electronics - to name a few skills they learn while at the OC.
They are given a job and
taught new skill sets they can use outside of SOH to assist them in
seeking employment in the community. Basic skills are learned in the
vocational department at SOH initially and then individuals are
selected to train at the Oregon Connection in the shop and then on
the retail side to learn new skills based on each individual’s
goals, ambitions and abilities. Through job training, coaching, and
development, employment is attained.
