Where does destroyed paper go?

After being processed, the shredded material is used for a variety of purposes. Shredded paper is used to create our gift cards, makes great packing material and is vital in making Papercrete bricks for building.

Document Destruction

Star of Hope has been offering confidential document destruction services since 1980. We serve many local businesses and private individuals with their confidential destruction needs.

A Certificate of Destruction is created upon completion of each job that shows the dates the materials were received, how much was destroyed, the final date of work and a list of the workers that destroyed the material.

Why choose a confidential document destruction service?

Document Destruction services save time, money and is a smart choice when it comes to ensuring your data is securely destroyed. There is no equipment to buy and once we have your material, our staff take care of the rest. Materials are shredded according to OAR standards and we are HIPAA compliant. If there are clips, secure tags, tape, folders or rubber bands, our workers remove these by hand before processing them.

What materials should be destroyed?

Obsolete tax/bank records, marketing/sales strategies, customer lists, price lists, sales statistics, bid proposals, correspondence, memos, meeting minutes, contracts, inventory lists, tax records, outdated business records, personnel files, cancelled or blank checks, medical files, mis-printed materials, internal restructuring plans, or any confidential trash that may interest a competitor, a hacker, an identity thief or a conspiring employee.

Do materials have to be delivered or do you offer pickup service?

Star of Hope accepts all walk-in customers, as well as contracted pickup service for businesses.

Star of Hope provides locking bins for businesses that are picked up when ready and taken to our facility to be destroyed. Empty bins are left to ensure your documents are secure on-site inbetween pickups.

We accept many types of material for destruction. Standard paper, folders, CDs, credit cards, ID cards, microfilm, etc.

What happens with the shredded material?

We believe in recycling at Star of Hope, so all material that is not used for projects is taken to designated recycling facilities.
